Lead with emotional agility
I got this beautiful illustration from Susan David's this week's newsletter. It nicely acknowledges the importance of emotional intelligence in leadership, the human side of human management which many of us tend to forget while getting lost in procedures and SOP and reports.
As leaders, we think we need to motivate people, but before we can motivate them, we have to be able to see them as complete human beings first, understand their 'why' so we can infuse the right kick of motivation effectively.
"Give people the opportunity to express their own individual values within the context of your larger organizational values."
