This Week Recap
Good morning,
Here's my not-too-personal week recap.
I have started to utilize this tool more recently since my kid and myself keep forgetting things we need to do on certain dates. So I suggested he put his test/exam dates into his calendar, and invite me in so I can keep track of his academic life without nagging him about when his next tests are. I also almost forgot my mom's birthday which is early next week, so I put that date in as well, and set it to repeat annually. Same for my dad. I got the idea of using shared-calendar from Jane The Virgin on Netflix, BTW. Who said Netflix is a waste of time?
This is my #14 book of this year, Sims's second book I read, and she did not disappoint me. I started this book last Thursday and will be finishing it today. The only thing is I should have read this before the Why Mummy Doesn't Give A F*ck since Ellen is still with his husband Simon in this swear one, and divorces him in the DGAF one.
This week, I listened to three podcast channels - I am not so sure if it's 'channel' or something else they call it.
- What I've Learned by Arianna Huffington | Van Jones On Self-care
- WorkLife by Adam Grant | Navigating Career Turbulence
- A Bit Of Optimism by Simon Sinek | A Bit Of Everything With Adam Grant
Empathy For Professionals by Sophie Wade
I finally signed up for LinkedIn Learning Premium only to get the certificate for this course I just took with the intention of canceling my subscription before I got charged in another month. This is also another great example of using Google Calendar to remind yourself of things you would regret if you forgot.
Cool Things I Learned
Tip for ZOOM users
From Seth's Blog, as I subscribe to Seth's daily blog, this week he shared a cool tip that you can hide your self-view in Zoom calls. This is a game-changer for people who on Zoom daily for a living. Looking at yourself all the time on the screen could be very distracting and sometimes awkward when you try to fix your hair or pick your pimples, or adjusting your head to make sure your best angle is shown.
Here's how you can do it: Hide Self View Instruction. I should look for the same on Teams.
User Agreement
Jennifer Zhu Scott, a Hong Kong-based tech executive and TED speaker had a really brilliant idea of making her kids signed a user agreement before being able to use smartphones.
Full agreement here. I will modify it into one for my kid's laptop use.
This week, I ran into two locations that are no longer exist, so I did what any noble citizen would do, edit the location on Google Map.
