Are We Making Our Kids Proud?

This question got to me when listening to an episode of Arianna Huffington's podcast What I've Learned where she talked to Alexis Ohanian, founder of Seven Seven Six, husband of one of the world's greatest athletes Serena Williams. He mentioned that he wants to make his kids proud of him when they grow up, ten years from now even though his daughter is only three years old now. 

Even though it's just a very quick discussion, it got me thinking of my expectation of my child as a parent, and other fellow parents around me. We expect too much from our children, we demand that they make us proud, but on the other hand, 

are we making them proud of us?
